About us
who we are
GLAN is an independent non-profit organisation made up of lawyers, investigators and campaigners. We pursue legal action against powerful actors involved in serious human rights violations and environmental harms, working across borders with international and local grassroots organisations.
Our committed team is spread across multiple countries and we have offices in Ireland and the UK.
WhAT we DO
Our planet, our rights, and our wellbeing are under attack. Powerful states and corporations operate across borders with impunity, destroying environments, exploiting workers, and violating people’s fundamental rights.
They are protected by global systems that allow them to gain power at all costs and profit from abuse.
We want to change that.
At GLAN, we use the law to challenge impunity and build a global movement to hold those in power accountable.
We’ve taken on governments, corporations and international systems of impunity.
- Held 32 European countries to account in the world’s biggest climate case
- Halted weapons exports from the UK for use in Gaza
- Set a legal precedent to stop imports of products made through forced labour
- Supported Barbudan land defenders in their fight against luxury developers.
GLAN was established to counter the impunity enjoyed by powerful states and corporations that exploit borders and international systems to hide wealth, evade responsibility and dodge accountability. Working with communities, GLAN provides a platform to identify and develop legal strategies by combining legal and investigatory expertise.

Our vision is justice across borders.
