Kings College London sponsors research position with GLAN

Rita Mota, a PhD candidate at King’s College London has joined GLAN as a researcher under the PhD Internship Programme at King’s College London. Rita is currently working on two projects involving labour law litigation and international tourism.

Rita is currently awaiting the oral examination of her thesis, entitled ‘#DefendTheSacred: Harnessing Hard and Soft Law Mechanisms to Integrate International Investment and Cultural Rights’. Her research focuses on the relationship between international investment and cultural rights, ultimately seeking to determine how to reconcile investor protection with the need to protect and promote the cultural rights of vulnerable stakeholders, such as indigenous peoples.

Rita graduated from the University of Lisbon School of Law in 2009, having spent one year as an Erasmus student at the University Paris-Descartes. She also holds a Master’s degree from the Portuguese Catholic University Global School of Law, which she completed in 2011 with a research semester at the University of Houston School of Law. Her final Master’s dissertation focused on stabilisation clauses in international petroleum contracts. Later, she taught European Union Law at King’s College London for one academic year and has had other teaching experiences, namely through a charity, in addition to working as a Research Assistant.
